Clinical Approach
Everyone deserves a place to rest, reflect and receive support.
Even when our plates are full of people & responsibilities we value, holding it all can feel overwhelming. Unmet needs and past hurts quietly tax our system, impacting our ability to cope and relax. You might find yourself overthinking, trapped in old behavioral patterns, or stuck in a gap between what you know intellectually and what you feel emotionally. We all have places where we struggle. Life can be painful. Here, you can let the cracks show in a supportive, non-judgmental space and reorient to a more authentic, grounded version of yourself.
Drawing on an attachment-informed, psychodynamic lens, we’ll make sense of what moves you and what hinders you. As you're ready, we’ll move beyond insight to experiment with small, practical shifts. There are no quick fixes, but transformation can occur within the context of a secure therapeutic relationship. My aim is to support clients in increasing their psychological flexibility, which is to say flexibility in how they think, relate and make meaning of their experiences. Depending your needs and preferences, this could look like:
Building a toolbox of concrete skills for coping with life’s challenges
Improving communication so your relationships feel richer and more connected
Shifting your relationship to yourself through self-compassion and parts work
Learning about sensory processing and nervous system function and their impact on mental health
Clarifying personal values to hone an inner compass
These are just a few possibilities. Through curiosity and experimentation, we’ll figure out what transformative actions resonate with you.
In my practice, I strive to offer an authentic, affirming space for people of all backgrounds and identities. I won't pretend to know exactly what it's like to walk in anyone's shoes, but I will bring genuine curiosity, respect and ongoing reflection to our work together.
Effective trauma work starts with safety, not exposure. Before unpacking traumatic experiences you may wish to process, we'll build a foundation to ensure you have the internal and external psychological resources to do that challenging work. This might include developing somatic grounding tools, increasing sensory awareness, and practicing distress tolerance skills so your nervous system stays regulated. From this stable window of tolerance, we can begin to safely heal old patterns and connect with a vision of yourself and your life that feels freer and more aligned with your values and goals.
